The Art of Coexistence explores the inherent divide between the subconscious and one’s ever-changing self-perception. My animation highlights the inner struggle between an impulsive and concentrated mind. This conflict is closely tied to my experience due to my ADHD. I began this series by collecting and curating seemingly unimportant moments that I experience within my daily life that give me bumps of serotonin, or as I call them, brain sparkles; Moments that, while insignificant, stick in my memory. Each hand-illustrated animation is stylistically different, exploring the fallible, fuzzy nature of human memory and the inaccuracies that occur due to the two polar perspectives on the original moment in time. In this way, this collection of animations is not only a personal exploration of my own struggles with the polarity between my conscious mind and its ADHD-fueled opposition but also examines the ever-present tension between the conscious awareness and unconscious impulses that define our existence.
Utilizing a journalistic approach to my view of daily life by documenting my thoughts in a very minimalistic style, in an attempt to capture the spontaneity while focusing on the significant action.
